Company Was Established

Nationwide Towing was formed by a group of 7 experienced Melbourne Tow Truck Operators interested in managing a successful Towing service. They purchased Blackburn Towing (established in 1960), which comprised a fleet of eight tow trucks and two service vans. The major volume of towing consisted of smash towing and RACV breakdown and servicing.

Nationwide Towing expanded its operations into Mansfield, Victoria.

Strategic Direction

The strategic direction for Nationwide Towing was to offer a professional, competitive and respectable breakdown service to the Motor trade, general public, government and corporate sector. The accident towing licenses were replaced with trade towing licenses.

Nationwide Towing soon outgrew its premises in Alfred St Blackburn, Victoria.

Mass Expansion from Initial 8 Truck Fleet

11 years later Nationwide Towing had expanded its fleet in Victoria significantly from its initial fleet of 8 trucks.

Towing & Roadside Business Separated and Eastern Van Service (EVS) Formed

The towing & roadside service businesses were separated and Eastern Van Service (EVS) was formed to provide emergency roadside assistance services to the RACV.

40 Years Of Service To RACV

Nationwide Towing Service celebrated 40 years of service to the RACV.

Oakenfulls Garage & Towing Service Purchased

Oakenfulls Garage & Towing Service – a Dandenong towing company was purchased.

Nationwide Towing implements a fully automated dispatch system – the first in Victoria to do this.

Purchased United Towing

Another acquisition soon followed with the purchase of United Towing.

Continued Business Expansion

Nationwide Towing Service continued the expansion of its businesses.

One Millionth Tow

Nationwide Towing Service completed its one millionth tow on the 21st of November 2006.

Gardiner Towing Service Acquired

Nationwide towing opened the Melbourne Impound in Collingwood to service local councils and assist with traffic management enforcement.

Gardiner Towing Service was acquired (the company where the shareholders started their towing careers).

RACV Contract

Nationwide Towing & Transport was awarded the RACV contract as sole provider of metropolitan emergency roadside towing services and won the RACV Tow Operator of the Year award.

Expanded Into Queensland

Nationwide Towing & Transport expanded its operations into Queensland with the acquisition of Brisbane based Tornado Tilt n Crane. Soon after a contract with the RACQ on the Gold Coast was secured.

RACV Tow Operator Of the Year + RACQ Most Complimented Service Provider

Nationwide Towing & Transport continued to excel in the provision of roadside towing services and was awarded RACV Tow Operator of the Year and RACQ Most Complimented Service Provider.

Nationwide introduces a fleet of vans into QLD to assist RACQ with roadside assistance, building on the success of the towing operation.

Nationwide no longer uses paper documentation for drivers, moving all processes to a fully electronic and paperless system for dockets, POD’s and site assessments.
Expansion Continued Into Western Australia

Expansion continued into Western Australia with the provision of towing & transport services to the RAC in Perth.

RACQ Contract Tow Operator Of The Year Award

Nationwide Towing & Transport was awarded RACQ Contract Tow Operator of the Year Award for outstanding Roadside Assistance and further expanded its presence on the Gold Coast with the acquisition of Statewide Towing Service.
